But Xander, I am stupid.
I do believe my vote won't matter, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to vote. I will, infact, be voting Obama if my lethargic nature doesn't overtake my sense of decency. But this is more for the reason that I hope that my vote will actually count for something.

Well I'll explain it for you then, electoral college almost always votes with the popular vote, so your vote does not mean almost nothing. In fact, your popular vote in your state is actually voting for a college elector, which has pledged to vote for a specific candidate. In this way the presidential election isn't one big election so much as everyone in each separate state voting for their state's college which determines how the state's electoral vote is cast.
And almost all other public elections in the country go by direct election, and there's a lot more important elections than just presidential.
There are flaws to the electoral college, namely the winner take all in each state, and many people and states are trying to reform this actively; in fact if you don't like the electoral college, go do something about it. And even with the electoral college, your vote does not mean nothing, it's this kind of lazy attitude that brings the country down.
Get off your ass and do something.

ummm, xander it's a bagel, not a begel......and no i don't eat bagels really
and i really wish they would just count eveyone's votes and say, hmmm, this person got more so they won, enough of this trying to break it into small colleges and such.

The whole "begel" thing is an inside joke.
Xander dislikes it when people don't pronounce things correctly. Like "pellow", or "melk".
And Logan always says "begel".

You know the electoral college is essentially a simplified version of the simple direct majority vote.
The majority of a state votes for a particular electoral college, and those electors are numerically proportional to the state's population, and then the state votes with the electoral college the popular vote majority favored, and then a majority is taken from those state majorities and that's how the president is elected basically.
People need start doing major get a clue checks on how the basic governmental structure of our country works.
I blame the schools.
And Marshall, technically I don't like it when people say "malk" (like how a lot of people with southern accents say it) saying "melk" would be ridiculous.

I don't think the a,i,e spellings/soundings are that ridiculous. Not as ridiculous as "mulk" or "molk" anyway.

i mean yeah i get how the electoral is based on population and such but really there have been times when the popular voted one way and someone else won due to electoral. i mean, they count all of the popular anyways so why not just base it on that, right? please tell me if i am wrong though because i like learning, thanks xander for telling me things

So yeah, I kinda had a WTF moment at work...
I was sitting in the breakroom, not really paying attenting, when an election add thingy came on.
Mentioned something about Obama at the beginning, and then, at the end, it's slogan was "Change is coming" and then showed a picture of McCain... WTF?! I honestly thought it was an Obama add... I think Mccain fails... no offense to anyone who likes him, but.. I was like... "Isn't that Obama's slogan? Just tweaked a little?"
