Daelgoth absolutely does not mention that he'd been a few seconds from losing his own self-control, and that Eliyahu's stunt had given him a convenient scapegoat. Daelgoth looks around at the golden sand that is piling up on the floor with feigned disinterest.

Well, i'm already dead by the technical term, but i'd say that you two fleshbags are still looking pretty healthy for the time being. If it keeps rising, you might suffocate though.

He shrugs

You could always volunteer to be my breakfast, and then you wouldn't have that problem anymore. I'm sure a life of eternal undeath in my service is at least preferable to burning in the sands of kami-kant-ar...y...whatever it was.

Elminster walks into the room puzzled and asks:

he pauses for a second, with his mouth agape

Daelgoth points a decrepit finger at Eliyahu, and in child like manner says

He adds

And you probably can't teleport back into your study because there's a teleport ward on it. At least, if you were smart there'd be one, but i'm begining to wonder.

Ed was broken from his mind by the sounds of the doors slamming open, blinking awkwardly. He, along with Daelgoth, shot his finger in protest at the form of Eliyahu.

He did it!

He looks at Daelgoth, whom he had just copied without any intention. He laughed lightly at the coincidence and similarity of the two. He turned his head back to Elimister, ready to receive a just punishment, perhaps.

Eliyahu raises his head a bit

He did it!

He points to himself

Ahahahahah... I crack myself up. Hmm... Now to find out how to get out of this rig-a-ma-dig of a sandbar....

He digs through the ashes for a bit

I wonder if any of this would be helpful along the way?

He fills a little red pouch on his belt with the golden ashes

He pushes a heap of ash to the side where is isn't pouring above it and shapes it into a chair and lays back. He sighs long and hard and ponders oh how to get out of this sticky situation

Yes Elminster, I have a question. You know these people, or least I hope you do, but more importantly you know me. Why would you keep soemthing so vastly important where I could reach it?

Secondly, was this even part of the original task? Do you have something else for us to do when we get back?

and thirdly, if the strange scarab-thingy does manage to make it to the alter, how badly would things go for us? And by us, of course, I mean me. On a scale of one to ten, one meaning I could run away and hide in my castle and be fine and ten meaning multiversal destruction, where would this scarab lie?

Ya, well, you say a lot of things don't you? And not all of them are true: you know as well as I that I deserve no longer the title Morning Lord. But let me see if I've got this straight in my head then: We infiltrate the temple, beat the scarab to the alter, remove the red gem, collect the scarab and get out.

That sounds almost easy. So, what's the catch? Is the temple trapped, haunted, cursed, a dimensional hole, miscellaneous, or all of the above? Lastly, you said you could get us close to the temple, but not in it. Does this mean that there's a teleport block around it, or that you're afraid of the powers that lurk there; I can't say I like either option, but I would really like to know.

Daelgoth cocks and eyebrow, but remains silent.

Ed blinks quietly, watching the two grown men bicker like sniveling babies. He smirks quietly, as a deeper fear infiltrates his mind. This quest, as per usual, was not going to be an easy task. He was trying to pick out any helpful bits of detail in the conversation, but Eliminster was being rather tight lipped about any fears, worries, or dangers that there would be. Well, maybe he better let Daelgoth handle this argument. He watched, waiting for something to come up that they could use, or for the group to agree to leave.

Oh yay, a wish. Those are obviously so much better than Miracles, becuase instead of relying on a god to do it, you atheistic wizard types just decide to "wish" for something and hope the mutiverse obliges you. What could I possibly get from a whish that I couldn't...

Daelgoth stops in midsentace, and his hands, which had been waving around wildly to accentuate his points, stop moving as well. He places his hand under his chin and gets a sly look on his face, and asks conspiratorially.

Any wish? No conditions?
